These items were in the 9/5/11 email blast. The first meeting of the season will be at the Syracuse Suds Factory on Monday, Sept. 12 at 5:30; first Monday meetings resume in October.

* 40 Below has been hard at work this summer, bringing together its task forces, trying to spread the word across the state, and generally trying to explain to people – and ourselves – who we are and what we do.

* Jessica Ambrose from the American Heart Association will come by to talk about next Thursday’s Handbags Helping Hearts girls night out fundraiser. Facebook event

“Handbags Helping Hearts” is a relaxing night out where girlfriends enjoy each others company, sip fabulous wines and dine on scrumptous hors d’oeuvres while supporting the local Syracuse Go Red for Women movement through the Syracuse Heart Association.

Enjoy some relaxing time with a few girlfriends listening to a couple of women share their experience with heart disease, while spending time looking over the beautiful and elegant handbags donated by local women and businesses to raise money through a silent aution for the Syracuse Go Red Campaign. Truly a girls night out!

* GreeningUSA is seeking board members!

GreeningUSA focuses on advocating for communities to become more sustainable. They are in the process of nominating new members for their Board of Directors.

If you or anyone you know is interested, contact Peter Arsenault at pja-arch@twcny.rr.com. The requirements are pretty basic, but this is a “working board” so monthly attendance at Board meetings and service on at least one committee is expected. The website for the organization is www.greeningusa.org

* Visions for Change needs volunteers

Visions for Change is the lead agency for an anti-poverty initiative in Syracuse called “Circles®”.
